We’re about to expand our multi-family portfolio significantly—adding 10 new properties in two different markets over the next year. With that kind of growth, we’re looking to bring in Yardi consulting services to help us scale correctly from day one.
Our goals are pretty clear: we need help standardizing our chart of accounts, automating recurring tasks like rent escalation and late fees, and making sure our reporting is investor-ready. We’ve used Yardi for a few years now, but mostly in a basic capacity. With more properties and more stakeholders, we can’t afford to have inefficiencies baked into the system.
In evaluating different Yardi consulting services, we’re finding that not all firms are created equal. Some focus heavily on accounting and back-end workflows, while others offer more training and support for on-site teams. A few even offer marketing and lease-up consulting.
If anyone here has recently expanded their portfolio, how did you select your Yardi consultants? Did you go with a Yardi-certified partner or an independent specialist? Any red flags to watch for during the selection process?
